James began competitive rifle shooting as an Army Cadet in the ‘70s. He joined the Canadian Forces, and graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada with a degree in mechanical engineering. He then completed his 20 years of service in the Royal Canadian Artillery. Along the way he deployed on operational tours in Croatia and Bosnia. While in the Army, James was a member of numerous shooting teams. He competed in service pistol and service rifle matches nationally as well as in the US and Australia. He has won the Canadian service pistol championship and was the top foreign competitor at the US Skill at Arms matches, where he also received the Commander of the Army commendation. James shot target pistol in Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) competitions and represented Canada in Sweden, Turkey and the US. He has also successfully completed handgun, rifle and shotgun shooting courses at Front Sight, Gunsite, and SIGARMs Academy.
In 2001, James retired from the military and opened a successful indoor shooting range and gun store. Over the years he has gained a reputation as an expert in small arms, ammunition and shooting.

Markus F
Owner
Markus developed an interest in hunting and shooting while in elementary school. After graduating high school he began a four year gunsmith apprenticeship and followed this with 4 years of college level business studies as well as English and French language training. He has worked as a gunsmith at Hammerli, and as a manager at Glaser Handels AG, Eduard Kettner AG and RUAG Ammotech. He also spent 2 years working in Canada as a partner in an indoor range and retail store. Markus is an excellent gunsmith, and an avid hunter. He has hunted in Africa, Canada and throughout Europe and is an expert in European hunting rifles and sporting shotguns.

John M
Owner
John has served as a proud member of the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) for over 36 years, rising to the rank of Battalion Chief. Prior to the CFD John served with the Canadian military for a number of years. John is a certified PAL instructor and has his license for restricted, non-restricted and special classes. He has shot competitively across Canada in IPSC and has previous retail experience with ranges and gun stores. Blaser rifles are a specialty of John’s, especially after a tour of the Blaser factory in 2010. He is an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and has hunted in Canada, Australia, Poland and the UK.
With his 40+ years of experience as a shooter, John is a valuable asset at Calgary Shooting Center, and is here to provide you with the expert advice you deserve.
